other European countries. London is drier than Istanbul, and the South East of England has less water available per person than some African countries.<\/p>\n<p>Surprised? Climate change, population increases and changes in lifestyle have led to increasing pressure being put on our water supplies. The expected increase in world population up to 10 billion people will decline the available freshwater resources by half in 2050.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, it is more important than ever that we take care with how we use water. Taking positive action now can help to ensure that there is enough water to go around, for us, for businesses and for the environment.<\/p>\n<p>Save Money<\/p>\n<p>Saving water saves money. Installing simple devices such as water-efficient taps and showers will save both water and energy by minimising the use of heated water. An efficient showerhead could reduce household bills by up to \u00a3120 per year. Leaky loos waste around 400 litres of clean water a day \u2013 the equivalent of having an extra two people living in your house!<\/p>\n<p>Climate Change<\/p>\n<p>Our use of water and energy are closely linked. style=\"font-weight: 400\">Having a regular savings habit can provide a safety net when things go wrong. Even a small rainy-day pot to fall back on when an unexpected bill lands, can provide security and reduce worry in difficult times.\u00a0 But savings are not just for the unexpected. A growing savings pot can help achieve future dreams and aspirations, whether that\u2019s saving for a weekend break or a holiday of a lifetime, a new dress or a new home, a new hobby or career-changing qualification, Christmas presents or a wedding. Getting into the habit of putting some money aside each month towards a future goal will help to ensure that dream is achieved.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">When, how and how much we save, will be different for everyone.\u00a0<em>UK Savings Week<\/em>\u00a0is all about helping individuals to save their own way, when they can. Creating a regular habit is often the best way to start, and whilst the amount saved might flex depending on other expenses in the month and could be small: once the habit is formed a savings pot can
